Life Support Customer Service

Life Support Customer Service

CEM is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by providing support services to eligible customers who rely on life support equipment. These services include advance notification of planned power outages and the estimated time of power restoration.

Planned Power Outage Notification Service

When CEM needs to carry out planned power outages due to regular maintenance, upgrades of power supply facilities, or customer-side engineering works, affected registered life support equipment users will receive advance SMS notifications.

SMS notifications are sent in phases[1] before the planned outage. Under normal circumstances, customers will receive a notification seven days and one day before the power outage to help them prepare accordingly.

In addition, CEM will distribute a “Power Outage Notice[2]” in advance to affected registered life support equipment users. Customers may also check the list of affected users online at any time.

Plan ahead for power outages

You may refer to the following guidelines to prepare in advance for potential power interruptions affecting life support equipment:

  • If your life support equipment has a built-in battery, ensure it is fully charged before the planned outage.
  • Check whether an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is needed to handle short-term power interruptions.
  • Keep the address and contact number of the nearest hospital readily available, and make transportation arrangements in advance.
  • Confirm the phone numbers of emergency contacts, including caregivers, medical personnel, and social service organizations.
  • Prepare a first aid kit and ensure that medications are sufficient and within their expiry dates.
