Macao, 11 October 2012
CEM is going to hold the Energy Fun Fair on 14 October, 2012 at Tap Seac Square in Macao, from 11:00am to 4:30pm. Co-organizers include Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Youth and Education Affairs Bureau, Energy Sector Development Office, ORBIS Macao and Macao Special Olympics. With the theme “Use electricity as an eco option”, twelve local secondary schools will take part in the event. The Fair with lot of prizes will be opened for children up to 16 years old.
CEM organizes the Energy Fun Fair since 2001 and has become very popular among students and public. CEM aims to enhance the interest and the knowledge of the citizens, especially the youngsters, about the electricity and its efficient and safe usage, in a fun and educational way. Thus, in their daily practices they can be more environmental friendly. This year twelve local secondary schools will participate, namely Ling Nam Middle School, Xinhua Evening Secondary School, Escola Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Kao Yip Middle School, Escola Secundária Luso-Chinesa de Luís Gonzaga Gomes, Pui Ching Middle School, Pooi To Middle School, Millennium Secondary School, Sacred Heart Canossian College, The Workers’ Children High School, Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima and Escola São João de Brito. Apart from the schools, the Energy Sector Development Office, the ORBIS Macao and Macao Special Olympics are also going to have their booths for display for participation of the public.
With the theme “Use electricity as an eco option”, schools will design a game booth for the public’s learning and interaction and compete for the Booth Design Contest. On top of that, students will also create an art piece for exhibition, by using solely recycling items. At the same time, students will also show their abilities and creativity by joining a Talents Contest. Students will sing, dance and perform drama, all related to the theme of the Fair. Top three schools in each of the competitions will be awarded with cash prizes. Plus, the school with the highest mark in the combination of the two competitions will receive a laptop.
Children can play at the game booths and win various fabulous CEM’s prizes including recycling bags, mini USB fans and many more. They will also have the chance to vote for ‘My Favorite School’, and be entitled to win one ‘new iPad’ in a lucky draw. Also during the closing ceremony, several children will be invited to go on stage and participate in interactive energy-related games with cash-coupons to be won.
This year a special exhibition will be displayed at the venue. CEM launched a ‘Student Charity Drawing Competition’ in collaboration with ORBIS and Macao Artist Society in September. The winning works will be displayed at the Fun Fair along with the prize presentation ceremony. Selective winning works are used to produce a 2013 desktop calendar for charity and raise funds for ORBIS. The Calendar will be on sale at ORBIS’s booth during the Fun Fair.
CEM will also have its Electric Vehicle (EV) and e-Bike for display. The public not only can see them, but will also be given the chance to have a closer touch and experience this newly ‘green’ technology.
