A small fire incident occurred at CEM Coloane Power Station A G08 Generation Unit at 10:36 this morning. CEM immediately contacted the Fire Service Bureau and the fire was put out within six minutes. Since it is an isolated and closed area, the incident did not affect the neighboring area. Power network was also not impacted and no power interruption was caused by this incident.

One 53-year old on-duty operator from G08 operational team, last name Tong, was injured by the heat wave of the explosion while performing routine patrol. He was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. His forearms were slightly injured and was discharged from the hospital after treatment.

After the preliminary investigation, the cause is suspected to be malfunction of one of the cylinders. CEM has already contacted the generator manufacturer to have a thorough inspection.
