CEM partners with Macao General Residents Association to hold a “Energy Savings and Safety” seminar

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) and Macao General Residents Association jointly held a “Energy Savings and Safety” seminar at 6:30pm on 15 May at Pak Wai Activity Centre of the General Residents Association, drawing over 80 members to attend the seminar.

The seminar mainly aims to encourage household energy-saving, enhance awareness on safe use of electricity, promote the maintenance of public electrical installations, as well as inform about CEM customer services. Attending guests included Simon Wong, Vice President of Macao General Residents Association, Chan Pou Sam, General Residents Association Building Administration and Resources Centre Supervisor, Iun Iok Meng, Advisor to CEM Executive Committee, Keegan Cheang, CEM Customer Services Department Senior Manager, and Cecilia Nip, CEM Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager.

At the seminar, CEM Customer Services Department Metering Services Engineer Dave Leong introduced about how to select energy-saving and safe electrical appliances, and suggested practical household energy-saving measures. Meanwhile, CEM Customer Services Department Senior Engineer Luella Wong talked about the maintenance and management of public electrical installations, taking this opportunity to explain about the types of responsibilities in regards to the public electrical installations in buildings, frequently-occurring problems in maintenance and the severity of these problems. Customer Services Department Customer Contact Centre Officer Deolinda Ma informed the audience about CEM customer services, including CEM online service center, as well as the various ways of applying for power supply. Deolinda also encouraged customers to use services like e-bill, SMS payment reminder and Autopay, and gave explanations to FAQs about the government’s subsidy. Afterwards, CEM representatives answered questions from the participants and listened to their opinions.

Wong Cho Tim expressed his gratitude to CEM for providing a good opportunity for members to further enhance their understanding about CEM services.

Keegan Cheang emphasized that CEM has always been devoted to providing high-quality services to its customers. Apart from launching the new online service for citizens, it has also regularly held seminars in the communities to enhance its communication with the public, promote household energy-saving and the selection of suitable and safe electrical appliances, as well as enhance residents’ recognition of the importance of maintaining and managing public electrical installations, so that residents’ daily lives would not be affected due to a lack of maintenance.

Iun Iok Meng said that CEM is holding a “Energy Savings Contest” this year, which has been well-received since its launch. Customers are welcomed to participate in the Contest.
